"Arijaana Villa" was comfortable and well equipped, the staff were very helpful and friendly without being intrusive in any way. The garden was lovely with flowers, fruit trees and a swimming pool and the Villa was in a quiet area with the true Gambia around it. We shopped and ate out at Senegambia the nearest town and toured other places in the area. Banjul the capital is a typical city but we enjoyed the tranquility of our stay and being able to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings and we are looking forward to returning to the Gambia again next year"

We spent a week at Arijaana Villa in February and were taken back by the facilities and ground that surrounds the premises. With a private pool and large private garden it is all you need to have a relaxing holiday. The interior of the villa matches any 5* hotel that we have stayed in offering spacious sleeping and social accomodation. With the beach just 5 mins away from the villa and surrounded in beautiful wildlife you are spoilt for breathtaking walks and wildlife experiences. Restaurants and supermarkets are just 5 mins away. With all this at your door step what else do you want! We are definately going back at the end of the year.

What a nightmare, the villa is on a building site with 4 other unfinished villas. Has inadequate solar panels so although the villa offers TV,DVD,ceiling fans and fridge the panels are unable to supply the electric needed to use them. If you only used the fridge the electric supply would cut out after 2 hours from when the sun goes in!!. you can't even use essentials like a hairdryer. A generator is needed to supply the house with water from the bore hole and for essential needs like the pool pump etc, but the owners refuse to send money for the fuel to run it, so unless you pay for it you won't get it. The villa is by no stretch of the imagination luxurious, the house was dirty on arrival, had mould stained sheets and disgusting stained pillows, the garden was unkempt and the pool dirty with inadequate intervention to keep it safe. The villa is in a lovely hamlet 45 with a 45 minute walk to the village local shops sell local goods but the main town 35mins bus ride to get meat and main supplies, there is no electricity to the village, hense the villas solar panels, has 2 local food outlets both selling one dish of chicken with boiled spaghetti so cooking for yourself is either a necessity or a car to travel to main town areas. The beach is a good 25 minutes walk away despite what the owners tell you and when we were there for 18 days in April there no beach huts drinks or food available. After we complained to the owners they were disinterested and was actually rude with some messages they left. we spent 3 days in a hotel for respite on our return in the evening we had no water to the house and no fuel we complained again and was told to leave the villa and threatened with the police. We still had a week left of our trip !!! Do go to the Gambia and do go to Gunjur as the people and the culture are truly charming but don't go to this villa there are more professionally run rentals to choose from. We are a well travelled family and have been to the Gambia on several occasions but have never experienced such poor facilities or customer service.
