Hi I'm just back in the UK after 2 weeks at Devon Lodge in the Gambia. I really liked the place. The accommodation is comfortable with neutral decor and a tiled terrace overlooking a well stocked garden. Privacy is assured as the garden is surrounded by tall white walls with trailing bougainvillea. The bedroom (with en-suite loo and shower) is a good size with plenty of room for an extra bed if needed. The kitchen area is fitted with cupboards, stainless steel sink and drainer, gas hobs and most important for me - a decent fridge.
Daily maid service and regular changes of towels and linens kept things sweet in the heat. The owners know the area well and are able to help with all sorts of queries like where to find an internet cafe, buy fresh seafood or how much to pay for a cab ride. As a first time visitor I appreciated having someone on hand who knew the ropes. The location was ideal for me being set in a quiet neighborhood, but within walking distance of the beach, bars, restaurants and clubs. If you value your privacy, hot showers, cold beers and fresh linen, then you'll like Devon Lodge.
The Devon Lodge is at the Kololi beach end of Kerr Serigne. Off the main coastal road, just past the sign for Babula's, turn left by the red shop with the coco cola logo, in other words it's in the same road as the Pineapple Apartments.
